Margot Wurst, Associate Certified Coach

Jesus teaches we are to lead by serving. Servanthood is leadership.

But among you it will be different. Those who are the greatest among you should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant."

-- Luke 22:26 (NLT)

Formula

Leadership is influence + Servanthood is leadership =

Influencing others with a servant's heart =

Servant Leader.

Who Are Servant Leaders?

At CoachingServantLeaders, we believe each one of us either is or has the potential to be a servant leader. We believe 100% in the concept of servant leadership. Our mission is to inspire, encourage, and empower servant leaders everywhere through coaching.

Robert K. Greenleaf is recognized as the father of servant leadership. He described servant leadership this way: "It begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve, to serve first. Then conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead … The difference manifests itself in the care taken by the servant-first to make sure that other people's highest priority needs are being served." (From "Servant Leadership" by Robert K. Greenleaf.)

In his book "Spiritual Leadership", J. Oswald Sanders defined leadership very simply. He said, "Leadership is influence."

Jesus said, "You are the salt of the earth…You are the light that gives light to the world…You should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven."

-- Matthew 5:13-16 (NCV)
